Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will you need to flip your Lola Cool Hybrid mattress?

You don't have to turn it, but rotating your mattress regularly is one of the very few conditions of your eight year guarantee. Take it for a 180 degree spin on the base once a month for the first 3 months, then every 3-6 months for the rest of its life.

2. How firm is the Lola Cool Hybrid mattress?

We describe the feel of the Lola Cool Hybrid as a medium. We have created what we think is the perfect balance of comfort and support and provides the best night's sleep.

3. How long does the mattress take to expand?

It only takes 2-4 hours for the mattress to reach its usable size, then enjoy.

4. How often should I update my mattress?

Did you know we spend about a third of our lives sleeping? That’s a lot of time with your mattress!

Generally, it’s advised to get a new mattress about every eight years. Meaning, if you purchased your mattress before 2013, you’re probably due for an upgrade! However, according to Consumer Reports, as we get older, we typically get less time out of a mattress because our bodies tolerate “less pressure” as we age.

So how do you know when it’s time to get a new and updated mattress? Here are some tips to consider:

* Be mindful of how you feel: If you’re feeling stiff or uncomfortable after a night’s sleep, that’s a good sign you’re in need of an update. We recommend paying close attention to your neck, lower back, and shoulders -- as those tend to be the first places to feel the pressure from a worn-out mattress. On a similar note, if you notice you get AMAZING sleep at a hotel or a friend’s house, that could be an indication your mattress isn’t doing its job for you.

* Look at your mattress: Is it sagging? Fraying at the edges? Visibly asymmetrical? Can you see an outline of your body? Those are all indicators it might be time for a new mattress. Also, if your mattress feels a lot softer or firmer than when you originally bought it, those are signs it needs to be swapped.

* Listen to your mattress: Cracks, crinkles, and pops tend to happen as springs get loose and mattresses get worn out to a point where they need to be replaced.

Above all, check in with yourself. There’s a good chance if you’re asking yourself if it’s time to get a new mattress as you massage shoulder pain-- it probably is!

Popular Questions

Q: How often should I replace my mattress?

A: On average, mattresses should be replaced every 7-10 years. However, this can vary depending on factors such as the quality of the mattress, usage, and personal comfort preferences. If you notice sagging, discomfort, or lack of support, it may be time to consider a new mattress.

Q: What is the best mattress type for back pain?

A: The best mattress type for back pain can vary depending on individual needs. However, medium-firm memory foam, latex, or hybrid mattresses are often recommended for providing a balance of support and pressure relief. It's always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional for personalised advice.

Q: Are there mattresses suitable for side sleepers?

A: Absolutely! Side sleepers generally benefit from a mattress that offers good pressure relief and contours to the body's curves. Memory foam and hybrid mattresses with a plush or medium-firm feel are often preferred by side sleepers as they provide adequate support while cushioning the shoulders and hips.

Q: How can I clean and maintain my mattress?

A: Regular maintenance can prolong the lifespan of your mattress. Vacuuming your mattress periodically helps remove dust and debris. To clean stains, use a mild detergent mixed with water and gently blot the affected area. It's also essential to rotate your mattress every few months to promote even wear.

Q: Do mattresses come with a warranty?

A: Yes, most mattresses come with a warranty provided by the manufacturer. Warranty coverage can vary, but it typically includes protection against manufacturing defects and premature sagging. Be sure to read and understand the warranty terms and conditions to know what is covered and for how long.

Q: Can I try a mattress before purchasing?

A: Many mattress brands offer a sleep trial period, allowing you to try the mattress at home for a designated period, usually around 90-120 nights. This allows you to determine if the mattress suits your comfort preferences. Check with the specific brand for their trial and return policy details.

Q: How do I choose the right mattress firmness?

A: Selecting the right mattress firmness is subjective and depends on your personal preference and sleeping position. Side sleepers usually prefer a softer to medium mattress, while back and stomach sleepers often opt for a firmer mattress for better support. Consider your comfort and spinal alignment when choosing the firmness level that suits you best.

Q: Can a mattress help with allergies?

A: Certain mattresses are designed to be hypoallergenic and resistant to common allergens such as dust mites and mould. Look for mattresses with hypoallergenic materials or those labeled as allergy-friendly. Additionally, using allergen-proof mattress covers and regularly cleaning bedding can help reduce allergens in your sleep environment.

Q: What is motion isolation, and which mattresses are best for it?

A: Motion isolation refers to a mattress's ability to minimise the transfer of motion when one person moves, allowing their partner to sleep undisturbed. Memory foam mattresses are known for excellent motion isolation due to their viscoelastic properties. Hybrid mattresses with pocketed coils can also provide good motion isolation.
